The village was founded during the colonization of the area at the end of the 13th century by Pašek Mudrý Warmunda, a courtier of Duke Mesko III. founded by Teschen. The place, first mentioned in 1292, was named after him as Lhota Mudrý , Lhota Moudrého , Warmuntovice or Warmundovice . The place was on the old Solárka salt road .
The village originally belonging to the dukes of Teschen came to the city of Friedeck , which pledged it together with surrounding villages to Ernst von Tworkau in 1434 . First of all, Vyšní and Nižní Lhoty were mentioned. In 1573 Duke Wenzel von Teschen sold the village together with the entire Friedecker lordship to the brothers Georg and Matthias von Logau and thus finally separated it from the Duchy.
In 1640 the owner of the estate, Georg von Oppersdorff , had a wooden pilgrimage church built on the Prašivá mountain. The community has had a seal since 1700. The residents made their living from agriculture and weaving.
After the abolition of patrimonial Ober Ellgoth formed a community in the Teschen district from 1850. The Czech name Horní Lhota has been in use since the end of the 19th century . In 1900 the state exhibition for weaving and agriculture took place in the village. From 1908 the place belonged to the Friedeck district.
