The reservoir Žermanice ( Czech Žermanická přehrada ) is located 5 km south of Havířov and 7 km northeast of Frýdek-Místek ( Czech Republic ) at an altitude of 290 m nm and belongs to the cadastral area of the municipalities Žermanice , Soběšovice , Dolní Domaslavice , Horní Domaslavice , Dolní Tošanovice and Lučina . The maximum depth is 28 m. The water is used to supply industrial companies in the Ostrava region ( Nová huť , Biocel Paskov ) and for recreation (water sports, fishing, campsites, holiday homes).
The reservoir was built on the Lučina River between 1951 and 1957. Since the inflow was insufficient, the Morávka-Žermanice Canal was built in 1959 from the Morávka near Raškovice to Vojkovice , from which the reservoir is also fed. For the residents of the flooded areas, the municipality of Lučina was founded on the bank .
The dam is an approximately 36 m high concrete gravity dam .
