Paskov (German Paskau , older also Passkau ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers south of the city center of Ostrava and belongs to the Okres Frýdek-Místek .

geography

Paskov stretches on both sides of the Olešná river in the northern foothills of the Beskid foothills . The Ostravice flows east of the village . The shaft and processing facilities of the disused “Staříč” coal mine are located in the south, and the site of the Paskov colliery, which has also been closed, to the north . State road 56 runs from Ostrava to Frýdek-Místek on the western edge of the village. Paskov is located on the railway connection from Ostrava to Kojetín , the train station is on the right side of Ostravice in the corridors of Řepiště. From Vratimov there are connecting railways to the Staříč and Paskov mine sites.

Neighboring towns are Hrabová and Vratimov in the north, Rakovec and Václavovice and northeast, Řepiště and Vinohrady in the east, Lískovec in the southeast, Žabeň and Malá Ves in the south, Brušperk in the southwest, Oprechtice in the west and Mitrovice and Nová Bělá in the northwest.

history

Paskov was probably founded at the beginning of the 13th century in the course of the colonization of the area after the construction of Hochwald Castle by the Franconian knight Arnold von Hückeswagen († 1240). Probably around 1230 Konrad von Plaveč acquired the area of Krmelín , Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí , Paskov, Hrabová and Žabeň from Count Hückeswagen. His widow sold the property to the Olomouc bishopric around 1256 . The first documented mention of the village comes from the year 1267, when the Bludovec family was enfeoffed with Paskov at the time of Bishop Bruno von Schauenburg .

At that time, Paskau was a Moravian border village with the Polish duchy of Teschen . After the town of Braunsberg was founded, Paskov was placed under its jurisdiction after 1269. In 1300, Bishop Theoderich von Neuhaus enfeoffed Johann Stange as part of an exchange transaction for his goods in Liebenthal with Paskov including Hrabová and Hrabůvka. After the dynasty of the Stange had died out, the knight Markwart von Wolfsberg received the Paskau feud in 1388.

Gentlemen

Between 1437 and 1447, Nicolaus von Walzenberg followed the Wolfsbergers. The festival was first mentioned in 1484 . In 1518 the Paskau goods came to Johann von Zerotein from the Straßnitz line, whom his widow Anna Sedlnitzky von Choltitz inherited. She was followed in 1525 by Ladislav von Kadaň. He died in 1530 and the fief of Paskov passed to his creditor Jan von Doubravka.

The parish church has been demonstrable since 1534. From Doubravka acquired in 1538 Johann von Pernstein in the course of an exchange against the villages Dědice, Opatovice, Rychtářov , Lhota and Raclavice near Vyškov . Pernstein achieved the detachment of Paskau from the feudal relationship with the diocese and the entry of the rule as an allodial property in the land table with Bishop Stanislaus Thurzo .

At the same time he made Paskau a town. In addition to the town there was also the village of Paskau. In 1548 Pernstein sold the Paskau rule to the Silesian nobleman Jan Czelo von Czechowitz. In 1578, the Hungarian humanist and former bishop of Fünfkirchen , Andreas Dudith (Ondřej Dudič z Horehovic) bought the Paskau estate including the festivals and the town of Paskov and the villages of Hrabová, Hrabůvka, Paskov, Krmelín, Nová Bělá and Žabeň from his son for 21,000 Guldenň . Dudith moved with his family to Wroclaw the following year and sold Paskau to Ctibor Syrakovský von Pěrkov auf Altendorf . The Syrakovský held Paskov until 1622, after which Christoph Zendler von Hof acquired the rule. Its goods were confiscated shortly afterwards because of its connections to the rebels and sold to Wenzel Graf von Würben and Freudenthal in 1624 .

From his descendants, Friedrich von Oppersdorff acquired the rule of Paskau in 1690 . His son Franz Josef founded the village of Oppersdorf in 1699. The family sat on Paskau until 1717. After several changes of ownership, Josef Count Mitrovský von Nemyšl bought the estate in 1779. Anton Friedrich Mitrovský sold Paskau in 1809 to Philipp Ludwig Saint-Genois d'Aneaucourt (1790–1857).

industrialization

In 1820 the first attempts on hard coal were made in the Beskid foothills south of the Ostrava basin. After the abolition of patrimonial Paskau Dorf ( Paskov Ves ) and Paskau Markt ( Paskov Městys ) and Oppersdorf existed as independent communities in the Mistek district from 1850 . In the 1870s, Paskau market and village merged into one community. In 1881 the Saint-Genois sold the castle and the goods in Paskau to Gunther zu Stolberg-Stolberg . In 1890 1,733 people lived in the market town. In 1900 Paskov consisted of 225 houses and had 1999 inhabitants. Between 1899 and 1903 the French engineer Chanove investigated the hard coal deposits . He recognized the Staříč and Paskov deposits as being of high quality. In 1904 the Czech name Oprechtice for Oppersdorf was created.

In 1914 the stately brewery ceased operations. In the course of the land reform in 1926, it was divided into the Paskov and Žabeň estates, as well as the distillery, the power station, the forest and the castle. After the Second World War, the last owner of the castle, Otto zu Stolberg-Stolberg, was expropriated and a hospital was set up in the castle. Between 1949 and 1954 the coal deposit was re-examined. Following a government decision in 1959, the Paskov coal mine was established. Sinking began in 1961 and in 1966 the experimental work was completed and coal production began. Since 1961 the municipality of Paskov belongs to the Okres Frýdek-Místek . 1980 Oprechtice was incorporated as Paskov 3-Oprechtice . Since February 3rd, 2011 Paskov is a city again.
