Hòa Bình is a province of Vietnam . It is located in the northwest of the country in the northwest region . The capital of the province is Hòa Bình .

According to the population statistics of 2009, Hòa Bình had 785,217 inhabitants, of which 117,561 (15.0%) lived in cities. 235,915 (30.0%) were younger than 18 years, 60,704 (7.7%) 60 years and older.

With 501,956 residents (63.9%), the majority of the population belonged to the ethnic group of the Muong at, 207,569 (26.4%) were ethnic Vietnamese (Kinh) , 31,386 (4.0%) Thái -Nationality at, 23089 (2, 9%) Tay and 15,233 (1.9%) Yao (Dao) . The Vietnamese were disproportionately represented in cities (where they also made up the majority of the population), all other ethnic groups lived predominantly in the countryside.
