history

The first written mention of the village, which consists of 14 courtyards, took place in 1577 as the property of Duke Wenceslas III of Teschen . Adam . In 1621 the place had grown to 17 farms, a Vogtshof and two mills. When the houses were numbered in Maria Theresa's time in 1733, Milikau had 25 yards, two mills, and a board saw. In addition there were 20 houses scattered in the mountains. The main livelihoods of the population were mountain pastures, logging and charcoal burning. After the Trzynietz Eisenwerke was founded in 1839, the charcoal extracted in the kiln around Milikau was mainly transported to Trzynietz . Iron spar was also mined.

After the abolition of patrimonial Milikau formed a community in the Teschen district from 1850. In 1900 the village consisted of 99 houses and had 782 inhabitants. In addition to traditional agriculture and forestry, some of the villagers earned their living by working in the Trzynietz ironworks. After the end of the First World War, the place belonged to Czechoslovakia. Because of the large Polish population, Poland also claimed the Olsa area and the Polish-Czechoslovak border war broke out . From 1920 the place belonged to the Český Těšín district. In 1928 the Anne Chapel with a lookout tower was built on Kozubová. After the Munich Agreement , Milików was annexed to Poland in 1938 and joined the German Reich the following year after the occupation of Poland. Milikau belonged to the Teschen district until 1945 and returned to Czechoslovakia after the end of the war.

After the dissolution of the Okres Český Těšín, the place came to the Okres Frýdek-Místek at the beginning of 1961. In 1980 it was incorporated as a district Bystřice 3-Milíkov after Bystřice . Since 1990 Milíkov has formed an independent municipality again. A strong Polish minority lives in Milíkov.
