history

The first reliable documented mention of the place as Janowicze comes from the year 1450, although it was sometimes associated with the place item in Jannutha in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( Tithe Register of the Diocese of Wroclaw ) around 1305. It is more likely that Jannutha was the Jemnicz oppidis from 1327 in place of the later Friedek.

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , which existed from 1290 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 the duchy was a feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia , since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg monarchy . In 1573 the free civil rule Friedek came into being, to which the village was subordinate.

After the abolition of patrimonial Janowitz formed a municipality in the judicial district of Friedek in Austrian Silesia from 1850 , from 1868 to 1901 it belonged to the Teschen district , then to the Friedek district . The place was in the Lachian-speaking area .

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary at the end of 1918, the area of Teschen was controversial. On November 5, 1918, the Polish National Council for the Cieszyn Region (Rada Narodowa Kięstwa Cieszyńskiego, RNKC) and the Czech Territory Committee (Zemský národní výbor, ZNV) agreed that Janovice should fall to Poland. Nevertheless, Janovice became a part of Czechoslovakia .
