Volker Anding (diplomat)

Volker Anding (born August 12, 1942 in Zwickau ) is a former German ambassador .

Life

He studied law at the Universities of Marburg and Freiburg im Breisgau and passed the first state examination in 1969 , and in 1971 he joined the foreign service . In 1973 he received his doctorate in politics from the University of Marburg. From 1976 to 1979 he was the representative of the German government at NATO in Brussels. From 1984 to 1985 he was a lecturer at the East-West Security Studies Institute (EWI) in New York . From 1986 to 1990 he was a European representative at the Federal Chancellery . Since 2006 Volker Anding has been the German consul general in Miami . The government of Adolf Hitler had sold the sunk Admiral Graf Spee to Julio Vega Helguera, who sold it on to the Uruguayan Armada . From 2007, Anding tried to ensure that the salvaged figurehead , an eagle, is not exhibited because he is sitting on a swastika .
