Bernhard Count von Waldersee
Bernhard Graf von Waldersee (born April 21, 1952 in Cologne ) is a German diplomat and was the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Argentina from 2012 to 2017 .
Life
After studying law in Bonn and Geneva and passing the second state examination in law , Bernhard Graf von Waldersee joined the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1981 . In the Foreign Ministry he worked in the Departments of Politics, Economics, United Nations and Global Issues and at the embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington , Athens , Lusaka , Geneva (permanent mission to the United Nations) and London .
After being envoy at the embassy in Brazil between 2003 and 2007 , he represented the Federal Republic of Germany as ambassador to Uruguay from 2007 to 2009 . Waldersee succeeded in bringing the United Buddy Bears exhibition to Montevideo, which was opened in May 2009 on the Plaza Independencia in the presence of the President of Uruguay, Tabaré Vázquez , and the Mayor Ricardo Ehrlich . From August 2009 to August 2012 he was the Federal Foreign Office's representative for Latin America and Caribbean policy.
In September 2012, Bernhard Graf von Waldersee became Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Argentina , and on July 7, 2017 he retired from there.
