Volker Behr

Volker Behr (* 1941 in Klein Engelau ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

From 1964 to 1969 he studied law in Bonn and Tübingen as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . After the 1st state legal examination in 1968 before the Judicial Examination Office in Cologne, then start of traineeship training in North Rhine-Westphalia; Research assistant at the Law Faculty of the University of Bonn (Chair Jochen Schröder ). 1969 studied at the University of California, Berkeley . After the 2nd state legal examination in 1974 before the Judicial Examination Office in Düsseldorf, he was a research assistant at the law faculty of the University of Bonn from 1974 (chair Jochen Schröder). After receiving his doctorate in 1976 (Bonn) with a comparative law thesis on the franchise contract and his habilitation in 1982 (Bonn) with a comparative law thesis on the question of creditor competitions ( Venia legendi : civil law, international private law and comparative law, commercial law), he represented chairs in Göttingen from 1983 , Giessen and Erlangen . In 1985 he accepted a professorship at the Law Faculty of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1988 he accepted the chair for civil law, civil procedural law, foreign and international private law at the Law Faculty of the University of Augsburg . From 1992 he was visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh (1992, 1995, 2000, 2004), Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi (1993, 1997), University of Lyon III (annually) and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2002).
