Volker Gwinner
Volker Gwinner (born August 18, 1912 in Bremen ; † May 7, 2004 in Bremen) was a German composer and organist .
biography
Gwinner first studied music with Günther Ramin , Günter Raphael and Johann Nepomuk David . He then worked as a church musician in Bremen and Dresden ( Sophienkirche ). For almost 20 years, from 1957 to 1977 Gwinner worked as a composer and organist in Lüneburg at St. Johanniskirche . In between he taught at the Conservatory in Bremen and at the Church Music School in Hanover . In 1968 he also took up a teaching position at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover , which he retained until 1980. In 1970 he was appointed professor.
Gwinner wrote numerous compositions for choir , organ and other instruments as well as commissioned music for radio and television. Concert tours have taken him to other European countries and overseas. He spent his twilight years in Bremen-Oberneuland .
