Volker Hauptvogel (* 1956 ) is a German typesetter , singer , actor , author and restaurateur in Berlin.

Live and act

Volker Hauptvogel was born in Bremerhaven and learned the typesetting trade there. He published first articles about travel to the USA and the Middle East. In 1976 he moved to West Berlin and from 1980 also worked as an author.

Hauptvogel has two sons.

Off-film actor

Hauptvogel worked from 1987 to 1993 in films such as " Nekromantik " by Jörg Buttgereit , " War of Tones " and in " Kurt Schwitters " by Diethard Küster .

From 2009 to 2011 he played at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin-Alexanderplatz in the Franz Biberkopf as part of the "Chorus". He gave readings with Hollow Skai from the novel Please kill me by Legs McNeill and Gillian McCain.

Singer (punk)

In 1978 Volker Hauptvogel became a founding member, singer and lyricist of the punk band Mekanik Destrüktiw Komandöh (MDK), which toured the USA in 1983 ; in the course of which he met Jello Biafra , and a joint appearance followed. On ZickZack Records appeared LP "declaration of war" and the single "Brute force". The maxi single "Message" was released on Rough Trades USA, which was also published by Zensor Records. The band broke up in 1984. There were limited new releases in 2011. In 2010, the TAZ described MDK as the "most innovative band in Berlin". In 2015, MDK was reorganized, four appearances with new texts under the title "Anarchosyndicalistic Musical Manifestation" with Jello Biafra and his "Guantanamo School of Medicine" in SO 36 , among others .

On June 2, 2017 the sound carrier "manifestation" by Mekanik Destrüktiw Komandöh will be released on the music label Destiny.

Restaurateur

Hauptvogel founded the “Pinguin Club” in Berlin-Schöneberg in 1984, also a Berlin meeting place for artists. So here were the doctors their first gold record. In 1988, Volker Hauptvogel gave up the Penguin Club. From 1989 to 2007 he ran the “Storch” restaurant. He took over and designed the beer bar Felsenkeller / Möve, also in the Schöneberg scene street "Akazienstraße" and later flopped with the bistro "Kuckuck" in Berlin-Lichterfelde.

Novelist

In 1983 the book “Denier” was published by Karin Kramer Verlag in Berlin. In March 2016 his second novel "Fleischers Blues" was published, initially as an audio book, performed by Guntbert Warns and Stefan Remmler.
