Volker Winkler (politician)

Volker Winkler (born July 29, 1945 in Sachsenhausen ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and master plumber and plumber. From 1984 to 1989 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1989 to 1992 a member of the Salzburg state government .

education and profession

Winkler was born in Germany and attended elementary school in Rauris from 1951 to 1955 . He then switched to secondary school in Mittersill and Lend from 1955 to 1959 and then completed an apprenticeship as a plumber, plumber and central heating engineer in Salzburg and Rauris from 1959 to 1963. After taking the license and master craftsman exams between 1969 and 1970, he took over the family business in Rauris founded by his father Hans Winkler in 1973. In 1986 he founded Energietechnik Winkler GmbH and transferred personnel, machines and tools from the sole proprietorship to the new company. In addition, Winkler expanded the company's business beyond the company's location. In May 2008, Volker Winkler retired and handed over the management of Energietechnik Winkler GmbH to his two sons, Volker and Roland.

Winkler was deputy district party chairman from 1977 to 1985 and district party chairman of the FPÖ in Pinzgau from 1985 to 1989 . At the state level, he was also active within the party as a member of the state party leadership and took over the office of state party chairman of the FPÖ Salzburg from 1987 to 1992. He was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on May 16, 1984 and switched to the Salzburg state government on May 3, 1989, of which he was a member until October 21, 1992. Winkler had to vacate his management position in favor of Karl Schnell , as Jörg Haider was considered too "tame".

In addition to his commitment to state politics, Winkler was a member of the local council of Rauris from 1974 to 1989. In addition, he was managing director and board member from 1972 to 1989 and since 1993 chairman of the supervisory board of Rauriser Hochalmbahnen AG and from 1972 to 2002 a committee member and most recently financial advisor of the Rauriser tourism association. Since 1974 he has also been a member of the board of directors or vice-chairman of the Raiffeisenkasse Rauris.
