history
On January 6, 1860, craftsmen and tradespeople founded the “Advance Association of Güstrow” in the Güstrow town hall. This was renamed “Volksbank Güstrow” 75 years later - in 1935.
After the Second World War , the "Agricultural District Cooperative Raiffeisen Güstrow eGmbH" was founded on May 25, 1946 and the "Association of Mutual Farmers Aid" on November 23, 1946 in Berlin. On December 14, 1950, the "Agricultural District Cooperative Raiffeisen Güstrow eGmbH" was merged with the "Association of Mutual Farmers' Aid" to form the "Agricultural Trade Cooperative Güstrow" (BHG Güstrow).
On July 26, 1990, the general assembly of "BHG Güstrow" approved the connection to the Güstrow cooperative bank under the new name "Raiffeisen-Handelsgenossenschaft Güstrow eG". In the same year the connection to the "North German Cooperative Association" followed, in 1994 the merger with Raiffeisenbank Bützow eG to "Volksbank Güstrow - Bützow eG", in 2000 the merger with Raiffeisenbank Lübz eG to "Volks- und Raiffeisenbank eG, Güstrow" , 2002 the merger with Raiffeisenbank Sternberg eG and in 2013 finally the merger with Raiffeisenbank Bad Doberan.
With retroactive effect from January 1, 2014, Volks- und Raiffeisenbank eG, Güstrow, and Volks- und Raiffeisenbank eG, Wismar merged. The respective representatives' meetings on August 27 and 28, 2014 passed the corresponding resolutions. The legal seat of the combined bank is Wismar.
Community foundation of the Volks- und Raiffeisenbank eG
In 2005 the former Volks- und Raiffeisenbank eG Wismar founded a foundation. The foundation capital now amounts to approx. 500,000 euros.
