The Volkshochschule Meidling is the second largest adult education center in Vienna . The head office is located at Längenfeldgasse 13-15 in Vienna's 12th district of Meidling .
history
The VHS Meidling was founded in 1996, making it the youngest of the Vienna adult education centers. The courses were initially held on the premises of the 3rd Central Vocational School in Längenfeldgasse . As part of the expansion of the vocational school area, a separate building was planned for the adult education center and the Meidling district museum . This was obtained in spring 1997 from the VHS Meidling. On January 1st, 2009, all Viennese adult education centers, which until then had been independent associations, were converted into a joint GesmbH “Die Wiener Volkshochschulen”.

Second chance for graduation - university entrance
Based on the original idea of the workers' education associations, in which knowledge and education could be acquired in a progressive context, young people and adults can catch up on formal school qualifications at the Volkshochschule Meidling today , namely the compulsory school leaving certificate and the Matura in the form of the vocational maturity examination .
Compulsory education
The VHS Meidling has intensive regional and institutional networking (collaboration with the District Meidling , the AMS , the social - as well as the Ministry of Education and the European Social Fund ) created learning spaces in which so-called "uneducated" people can develop their educational desires and needs active. Depending on the goals and requirements of the participants, they prepare for compulsory schooling or start basic education .
Matura for working people
The vocational matriculation examination, which in Austria enables the transfer of an apprenticeship certificate to a university degree, has also been supported by the Moodle learning platform at the VHS Meidling for several years. With the use of e-learning , the learning processes are continuously improved.

Longfield Gospel Choirs
The course category "Singing - Longfield Gospel Choirs" of the VHS Meidling consists of three formations with a total of 360 members and is considered the largest gospel choir in Europe. The formations are:

Since 2007 there have been annual concert tours abroad (Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany). The Longfield Gospel Choir was selected as the accompanying group for Bobby McFerrin's concert on July 4, 2004 in the Vienna State Opera and the choir was also represented musically at the wedding of Verona Feldbusch and Franjo Pooth in St. Stephen's Cathedral .
