Von Spar is a German band from Cologne founded in 2003 .
The name Von Spar is derived from Von-Sparr-Straße in the Cologne district of Mülheim , near which was the rehearsal room where the band came together.
history
Her first album, which was released in 2004 on the Hamburg label L'age d'or under the title Die unrestricted freedom of the private initiative , consisted of danceable electropunk with indie rock elements and was classified as post-punk .
In 2007 the singer Thomas Mahmoud left the band after internal quarrels shortly before the tour began. Since then the band has not had a permanent singer.
The second album named after the band was released by the Cologne label Tomlab and ties in with the krautrock of the 1970s with two organically growing 20-minute songs .
The third and fourth studio albums, Foreigner and Streetlife, were published by the Berlin label italic records .
The fifth studio album Under Pressure was released in 2019 by Bureau B .; Singer / songwriter Chris Cummings (who already worked on Streetlife ), Lætitia Sadier (formerly Stereolab ), Vivien Goldman , Eiko Ishibashi and R. Stevie Moore can be heard as guests .
