Vorum is a Finnish death metal band from Mariehamn , which was founded in 2006 under the name Haudankaivaja .
history
The band was founded in the winter of 2006 under the name Haudankaivaja and consisted of Jonatan Johansson, Mikko Josefsson and Matti Jalava. A first demo followed in the summer of 2007, which was recorded under the direction of Jesper Josefsson, brother of drummer Mikko, although it never officially appeared. The first appearances in Mariehamn followed, until the end of February 2008 the band went to Panu Posti ( Murdershock , GAF , Afgrund , Feastem ) to record another demo. After the demo was released, the band changed their name to Vorum as the band had evolved into something new, according to frontman Johansson. Due to the demo, the band gained increased attention, so it was re-released as an EP on Woodcut Records under the name Grim Death Awaits . In 2010 a split- release followed together with Vasaeleth under the name Profane Limbs of Ruinous Death . In 2013, the group's debut album Poisoned Void was released via Woodcut Records.
style
The band plays classic death metal, the rhythm of which is variable, with tonal influences from black metal being audible. Johansson cites the groups Morbid Angel , Necrovore , Kat , Elderly Mayhem , Nihilist , Merciless , Bathory , Venom and rock bands like The Stooges as her influences .
