Vranduk is a village in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is part of the city of Zenica .
Vranduk is located in central Bosnia, about 12 km north of Zenica on the way to Doboj in a bend in the Bosna river . The Bosna is narrow in the area of Vranduk and has the character of a gorge.
The old town of Vranduk lies on a rock above the loop of the river. In the village are the ruins of the medieval fortress Vranduk.
The main road 17 and the railway line Sarajevo-Šamac lead past in tunnels at the site.
history
The name Vranduk is first mentioned in 1410 in a document that is now in the Dubrovnik archives. Due to its location, Vranduk was of geostrategic importance.
