Location and landscape

On the Vremščica, behind the Nanos

The Vremščica is about 20 kilometers east of Trieste , near Divača . It is a western foothill of the Snežnik massif (Krainer Schneeberg,  1796  m ) in the Hochkarst . It extends north along the lower Reka .

To the west is the Vremščica train over the Gabrk (pass height on the Čebulovica 549  m. I. Year  ,  A1 ) with the Kras (Karst plateau, Trieste Karst) and over the Goli vrh near Senožeče (pass height  621  m. Old year ) with the Vrhe des Vipavatals connected. To the north, the mountain range merges into the lower plateau of Slavinski ravnik near Postojna . To the east lie the range of the Markičeva Gora  ( 825  m ) and the Osojnica  ( 825  m ) near Pivka and the Pivška kotlina (Pivaka basin), and south of it the valley Kosanska dolina of the Reka tributary Mrzlak . To the southeast on the other side of the Dolina Reke (Rekatal) lie the Brkini .

According to the structure of the natural geographic regions of Slovenia , Slavinski ravnik and Vremščica are seen as a coherent landscape ( Slavinski ravnik z Vremščico , 5B.10).

The summit corridor of the ridge is grassy karst , the flanks are wooded.
