Vytautas Astrauskas (rheumatologist)

Vytautas Astrauskas (born March 23, 1927 in Maceniai , Rajongemeinde Plungė , † August 2004 ) was a Lithuanian rheumatologist and politician .

Life

From 1940 to 1946 Astrauskas attended Plungė High School . After graduating from high school, he graduated from 1946 to 1952 with a degree in medicine at the Vilniaus universitetas . Astrauskas received his doctorate in medicine in 1968 and habilitation in 1972. He was a professor . From 1968 to 1992 Astrauskas worked at the Research Institute of Clinical Medicine, and from 1964 head of the laboratory in Vilnius . From 1955 to 1956 he was a deputy in the Vilnius City Council . From 1962 he headed the Association of Lithuanian Endocrinologists . From 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the Seimas .

From 1955 to 1990 Astrauskas was a member of the CPSU , then of Lietuvos Demokratieinė darbo partija and from 1996 the Krikščionių Demokratieų sąjunga .

Astrauskas was married and had two daughters.
