Wüstenwetzdorf is a district of the municipality of Tömmelsdorf of the Triptis administrative community in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

Wüstenwetzdorf is to the east of federal motorway 9 not far from the route. To the east of the hamlet , a forest area extends from Triptis to behind Auma . There is a connection to the federal highway 281 and to the federal motorway as well as to the Triptis train station via local roads.

history

The first documentary mention of the hamlet took place in 1378. The name is said to go back to the founder of the Wetzel settlement .

Agriculture and fishing shaped and shaped the place. Since the Middle Ages, fish ponds have been created near the place in order to supply a nearby monastery. The 250 fish ponds in and around the hamlet were combined to form larger bodies of water from 1980. From this, after 1990, the Wolche pond and local recreation area developed .
