The Nysa Szalona (German Wütende Neisse or Jauersche Neisse ) is a right tributary of the Kaczawa (Eng. Katzbach) in Lower Silesia in the Euroregion Neisse and has a length of 51 kilometers.
The river rises at a height of 600 m on the west side of the mountain Kokosz ( Huhnberg ) on the Waldenburger Heights , flows through the lowlands of the foothills of the Sudeten and the heights of Hainau, flows through the cities of Bolków ( Bolkenhain ) and Jawor ( Jauer ) and lastly the former battlefield of the Battle of the Katzbach . The Angry Neisse then flows into the Katzbach not far west of the village of Dunino (German until 1945: Dohnau), around 10 kilometers southwest of Legnica ( Liegnitz ).
As a result of heavy rain events, the water level of the small river can rise to a height of 2.5 m, which was fatal for many French soldiers in the Battle of the Katzbach, which actually took place on the Angry Neisse in August 1813.
