Wladyslaw Marconi

Władysław Marconi (born February 29, 1848 in Warsaw ; † June 4, 1915 there ) was a Polish architect and monument protector who worked mainly in Warsaw.

Life

Władysław Marconi was the son of the architect Enrico Marconi and a naturalized Scottish woman (Małgorzata, 1807-1884), who raised him in the Protestant faith. He graduated from the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1874 . After returning to Warsaw, he began working as an architect, but was also active in the social and cultural environment. He was a co-founder of the Society for the Preservation of Monuments of the Past ( Towarzystwo Opieki nad Zabytkami Przeszłości ) and the Architectural Circle ( Koło Architektów ). He was also a member of the building committees for the construction of the Adam Mickiewicz monument and the Poniatowski bridge . The architect was also a member of the Warsaw Photography Society ( Warszawskie Towarzystwo Fotograficzne ).

Marconi was married to his niece Kazimiera Eleonora (1859-1934). The couple had four children, including Bohdan Marconi and Halina Maria (1888–1952), who later became the wife of the art historian Stanisław Łoza. The Marconis brothers were the painter Karol Antoni Marconi and the architect Leandro Marconi .
