W. Patrick McCray

W. Patrick McCray (* 1967 in the USA ) is an American historian whose research focuses on the history of science and technology.

Life

McCray grew up in southwest Pennsylvania and began his studies at the University of Arizona , where he studied with W. David Kingery and Michael Brien Schiffer , among others . He then worked at the Center for History of Recent Science at George Washington University and later at the Center for History of Physics at the American Institute of Physics before becoming a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara .

In 2005 McCray was one of the co-founders of the Center for Nanotechnology in Society , which was set up with a start-up grant from the US National Science Foundation . There he heads the research group that deals with the history of nanotechnology .
