The WEG T35 was a three-axle rail bus that was used on the Amstetten – Laichingen railway line . It was built in 1954 by the workshop of the Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (WEG) and was intended to rationalize operations on the line. The vehicle was in use for around 15 years and was retired and scrapped after an accident.

history

Originally the vehicle was 1936 by Bussing as triaxial bus type trambus built 900T and at the Hanover ÜSTRA under the number 54 on track after Misburg used. The vehicle was badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1943 and was rebuilt as a truck after the Second World War . In 1953 it would have required a further processing, which the ÜSTRA no longer carried out and sold the vehicle to the Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft.

The vehicle was then rebuilt as a rail bus in the WEG workshop in Neuffen . The steering of the road bus was fixed and the road wheels were exchanged for railway wheels . The machinery was retained so that the bus could only run in one direction. With reverse gear, only maneuvering could be carried out. For operation with the rail bus, a simple turntable was built at both ends of the railway in Amstetten and Laichingen . Due to the low engine power, it was not suitable for roll- stand operation; the railcar could only tow a sidecar .

The railcar drove on its main line for about eleven years, then after a collision it was parked at a level crossing and scrapped in Laichingen around 1971/1972.

Constructive features

The basic configuration of the road bus was retained during the conversion, except for the fixed railway wheels in the chassis. The body was redesigned by the Auwärter company for the needs of the railway company. Instead of the two entrances on the front right and rear right, the rail bus has a pneumatically operated central entrance on each side of the vehicle.

A newer diesel engine of the type Büssing U 10 was installed, the gearbox equipment with the manual transmission remained the same. For sidecar operation, it was equipped with a balancing lever coupling in accordance with the WEG regulations and an indirect brake .
