Vaudois Riviera
The Vaudois Riviera ( French Riviera vaudoise ) forms the eastern part of the northern shore of Lake Geneva in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland . It includes in particular the towns of Vevey , La Tour-de-Peilz , Montreux and Villeneuve . To the west of it is the Lavaux . The settlements belong to the Geneva-Lausanne metropolitan region , the second largest metropolitan area in Switzerland.
The most important attraction is the Chillon Castle , which lies between Montreux and Villeneuve on a small island in the lake.
In the new district of Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut , Riviera is used as an official name for the first time. Since 2001, the name on behalf of is the transport authority of public transport Transports Montreux-Vevey-Riviera (MVR) is used.
The Vaudois Riviera is dominated by the mountains Mont Pèlerin , Les Pléiades , Cape au Moine , Dent de Jaman and Rochers de Naye .
