Wachenheimer junk

Lumber is the name of a vineyard near the town of Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). Their vineyards cover 12.8 hectares .

Location, climate, soils

The junk belongs to the Palatinate growing area and here to the Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse area . It is a single site that belongs to the Forster Mariengarten large site . It is completely located in the district of Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse. The altitude ranges from about 125 to 149  m above sea level. NHN ; the terrain here is 20% sloping and 80% flat.

The floors of the junk consist of loam and loamy sand, they are in places interspersed with marly clay . The lee of the Palatinate Forest in the west protects the junk from precipitation.

Surname

The first mention of the name was in 1429 "In the Crumpel". The name can possibly be traced back to one person's name - in 1499 Philipp von Bechtolsheim gave the tub to a cousin named Grympel von Bechtolsheim. According to another explanation, the type of soil - crumbly Latvian soil - may have played a role in the formation of the name.

Another vineyard called "Gerümpel" is located in the neighboring community of Friedelsheim .
