Waco Jesus is a Porngrind band from the American state of Illinois .
Band history
Waco Jesus was founded in 1994 by guitarist Kevin Menssen in Illinois. According to him, the name has nothing to do with the 1993 events in Waco . After numerous line-up changes, the line-up with Lividity guitarist Dave Kibler, drummer Nick Null, bassist Bruce Duncan and singer Shane Bottens recorded the first demo in 1997 . This was followed by a recording contract with United Guttural Records from Atlanta , where the 1999 debut album The Destruction of Commercial Scum was released. The following year guitarist Kibler left the group and was replaced by Chris Sweborg. After the unexpected death of drummer Nick Null in July 2002, John Baker joined the band. In mid-2003, the second studio album Filth was released by Morbid Records . After a tour through Europe and a few festival appearances in the USA, the third album Receptive When Beaten followed in 2006 . The last studio album so far was released in 2009 under the title Sex Drugs and Deathmetal .
criticism
The band has often been criticized for its misogynistic and sexist lyrics as well as the adult artwork . In its review of the 2003 album Filth , the online magazine The Metal Observer characterizes the band's lyrics as the "most hideous and sickest and most perverse lyrics" there are, and Rock Hard magazine writes that Waco Jesus himself with its infantile lyrics disqualify. The musicians themselves describe their lyrics and the artwork as a special form of black humor , musically the group sees itself as an intersection of “ Death Metal , Grind and Porn ”. The above-mentioned album Filth was indexed by the BPjM in Germany on August 10, 2012.
