Waiting for Bonaparte is a music album by British folk punk band The Men They Couldn't Hang , released in 1988. Alongside Silver Town, it is one of their most famous albums.
history
The Crest , Island in the Rain and the successful The Colors , in which the mutiny on an English warship during the Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) was thematized, were released as single releases .
A year before the album was released, the previous bassist Shanne Bradley left the band and was replaced by Ricky McGuire (former member of the UK Subs ).
In the British charts, The Colors reached number 61, Island in the Rain and The Crest, however, only positions 92 and 94. The Colors is the biggest chart success of the Men They Couldn't Hang. The album rose to number 41 in the British album charts, making it the second most successful album by the band after Silver Town .
The Colors was not played despite the BBC chart success , as the text "You've Come Here To Watch Me Hang" referred to the Sharpeville Six and the riots in South Africa , which did not stop the band's success in Europe .
Waiting for Bonaparte was the band's first and only album to be released on Magnet Records , for the next album, Silver Town , the group switched to Silvertone .

The songs Silver Dagger , Restless Highway , Country Song and a six-minute version of The Crest were added to the remastered CD version of the album .
