Waldemar Sunday

Waldemar Sonntag (born August 25, 1844 in Rehsen , † January 1, 1912 in Bremen ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Sonntag studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Halle and Berlin . After the Franco-Prussian War , he was appointed as a deacon in Naumburg (Saale) in 1871 . He held this office until 1882.

This year Sunday was brought to the St. Petri Cathedral in Bremen as a preacher . Also involved in church politics, he was elected president of the local Protestant association there in 1886 and led this association until 1898. In this function, he was co-editor of the newspaper Deutsches Protestantenblatt between 1887 and 1889 ; between 1889 and 1895 then under sole responsibility.
