Waldemar Wendland

Waldemar Wendland (born May 10, 1873 in Liegnitz ; † August 15, 1947 in Zeitz ) was a German composer .

Life

Waldemar Wendland first studied medicine. After the early death of his father, he switched to banking. Musically, he trained himself on the basis of a strong personal interest and later with Engelbert Humperdinck . He initially worked as a répétiteur and later as a theater Kapellmeister in Frankfurt am Main . During this time in Frankfurt he took composition lessons from Humperdinck. From 1915 to 1933 he lived as a freelance composer in Freiburg im Breisgau , Basel and Berlin .

Wendland wrote six operas , several ballets and orchestral pieces as well as chamber music and about 200 songs.

Waldemar Wendland married the actress and writer Olga Wohlbrück in 1904 .
