Walentyna Petriwna Semenjuk ( Ukrainian Валентина Петрівна Семенюк ; born June 4, 1957 in Saritschtschja , Zhytomyr Oblast , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ; † August 27, 2014 in Tschajky , Kiev Oblast , Ukraine ) was a Ukrainian economist and politician .

biography

In 1982 Semenyuk graduated from Zhytomyr State Agricultural University with a degree in economics . She then worked as the chief economist of a planning commission for Ruschyn Rajon . From 1991 to 1994 she worked as the deputy head of the socio-economic department of the Rushyn district administration. In the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 1994 Semenjuk was as KPU -member for deputies in the Verkhovna Rada voted, where she was appointed secretary of the parliamentary committee on agriculture and social development. In the 1998 parliamentary elections , she was re-elected to the Rada as a SPU member.

In 1999 she graduated from the Kharkiv State Law University with a degree in law . In the parliamentary elections in 2002 she was re-elected as a member of parliament. In April 2005, Semenyuk was appointed head of the Ukrainian State Property Fund. She was also elected to the Rada in the 2006 parliamentary elections.

In April 2008, Semenyuk was suspended from her position as head of the state property fund by then Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko . President Viktor Yushchenko suspended this government decision twice. This was preceded by a controversy in which Semenyuk had accused the government of trying to appropriate the state property fund with illegal means. On December 26, 2008, Semenyuk was officially dismissed from her position as head of the State Property Fund by a decision of the Verkhovna Rada.

On August 27, 2014, Semenyuk was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head at her home in Chayky ( Petropavlivska Borschtschahiwka parish ). In the days before her death, she told her family that she had received several death threats over the phone. Regarding the cause of death, the police have so far ruled out neither murder nor suicide.

Private

Semenyuk was married to the Kiev businessman Vitaly Samsonenko and had two daughters.
