Walker Stuart

Walker Stuart (born July 17, 1920 ; † January 27, 2007 in Cambridge near Boston ) was an American film director and film producer who was nominated for an Oscar for his short film That’s Me .

Life

Walker Stuart first appeared in the film scene in 1963 with the short film That's Me , which he produced and which he also directed. This film about a Puerto Rican guitarist struggling to get along in his new home, New York, earned him an Oscar nomination. Walker worked with Alan Arkin on this project .

Stuart directed the 1969 documentary To Save a Soldier , about the rescue of an American soldier wounded in the Vietnam War . Henry Fonda acted as the narrator of the story .

What Stuart did after that is not known. In 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1990 he appeared again on the production team for the films When the Wolves Howl , 1918 , Full steam ahead to Chicago and Lord of the Flies .

Walker Stuart, whose last residence was Jamaica Plain , a historic neighborhood in the city of Boston , Massachusetts , died at the age of 86.
