Wallach is a district of the city of Rheinberg in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1951 Wallach was an independent municipality in what was then the Moers district .

geography

Wallach is located in the north of the city of Rheinberg about one kilometer from the left bank of the Rhine .

history

The parish village of Wallach originally belonged to the Duchy of Kleve and has formed a rural community since the 19th century that belonged to the Prussian mayorry of Ossenberg . This belonged to the Geldern district until 1857 and to the Moers district since 1857.

In the 1900s, a mine was sunk in Wallach , which should form a network with the neighboring Borth salt mine . The plant was shut down again in 1926.

Wallach was incorporated into the municipality of Borth on April 1, 1951 together with the municipality of Ossenberg . Borth, in turn, was incorporated into the city of Rheinberg by the Lower Rhine Act on January 1st, 1975.

Architectural monuments

Monuments in Wallach include the Bringshof, the old school, the Protestant church, the old mill, the Elverich house and the remains of the former mine.

Culture

One of the bearers of local customs is the Wilhelm Tell Wallach civil rifle club .
