The pilgrimage church on the Mazzucco is a sacred building dedicated to St. Anna is consecrated, in which, however, the Madonna and St. Bernhard are worshiped.

Together with the Sanctuary of Banchette ( Bioglio ), the Nostra Signora della Brughiera ( Trivero ) and the Brugarola ( Ailoche ), it belongs to the group of smaller pilgrimage sites in the Biella area , which can be found along the hiking and pilgrimage routes of CoEUR and on the way from San Carlo are located.

The church is located in a beech forest at an altitude of 919 m in the area of ​​the municipality of Camandona in the province of Biella . The building is a massive, rectangular structure with a small bell tower, which was started in the first half of the 17th century, fundamentally rebuilt in the 18th century and structurally changed again in the 19th and 20th centuries.

An icon painted by Carlo Sogno in 1900 depicting St. Represents Anna; There are also interesting decorations inside. T. were created by the painter Antonio Ciancia from Caprile . The facade is adorned with a more recent fresco (1988) depicting the Madonna with the baby Jesus .

In addition to the church, the building also contains an accommodation where the hermits once lived.

Not far from the pilgrimage site runs the Almauftrieb, on which the cattle breeders from the Biella area reach the summer pastures of the upper Valsessera valley .

Access

The sanctuary can be reached from Camandona on a path or an asphalt road that passes behind the hamlet of Mino a few dozen meters from the church. A path also leads up from the nearby district of Guelpa.
