Ewald "Wally" Warning (* in Oranjestad (Aruba) , Netherlands Antilles ) is a roots reggae , ragga , latin musician from Munich . He is the son of Surinamese parents.

Career

As a young musician, Wally Warning played in the bands of Sam & Dave and Lightnin 'Hopkins before moving to Europe at the age of 17 . At the end of the 1970s he settled in Munich and became the bass player in the fusion jazz band Snowball , with whom he also recorded an album. After they split up in 1981, he formed his own funk rock band with the name Tax with guitarist Wesley Plass and drummer Eberhard Wilhelm , with whom he also released an album.

But after two years this band episode ended and Warning released his first solo album in 1983 with the title Promises . He then concentrated on songwriting for almost ten years and wrote disco songs, among other things. It wasn't until 1994 that he finished his own album called Love Can Save Us . Since then he has continued to release albums regularly and is on the road as a musician and often seen at festivals.

Wally Warning achieved greater notoriety in 2007 when it had a summer radio hit called No Monkey . At the end of July, the song made it into the German and Swiss single charts.

His daughter Ami Warning , who also played in his band, is now a solo musician herself. They also appear together with their songs as "Wally and Ami". Many have rediscovered Wally Warning through his participation in the "Aufgspuit" series by Werner Schmidbauer (musician) .
