Count Walram (* around 1305; † 1380 ) ruled the front county of Sponheim and came from the noble family of Sponheim .

Live and act

Walram was probably born in Kastellaun around 1305 . His father Simon II resided there until his death in 1336. When his uncle Johann II died in 1340, Walram took over the government of the entire Front County of Sponheim. He united the previously divided area and chose Kreuznach as the capital and the local Kauzenburg as his residence. He had married Elisabeth von Katzenelnbogen as early as 1330 . Count Walram led numerous feuds. Walram died in 1380. He was buried in the so-called monastery church of Pfaffen-Schwabenheim at the side of Counts Simon I , Johann I and Johann II. His tomb can be visited there.
