The Walsh Nunatak is an approximately 1600 m high nunatak in Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Dana Mountains, it rises eight miles southwest of Mount Axworthy on the northern flank of the Haines Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of surveys and with the help of aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy between 1961 and 1967 . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after the biologist John J. Walsh, who had participated in the USCGC Eastwind expedition from Palmer Station from 1965 to 1966 .
