The Walsh River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is located in the Far North Queensland region .

geography

River course

The river rises about 60 km southwest of Cairns in the Atherton Tablelands , part of the Great Dividing Range . It first flows north, crosses the road from Mareeba to Chillagoe and the Bicentennial National Trail and turns west. It crosses the Burke Developmental Road north of Mungana and turns around 25 km further to the northwest. East of Gamboola it crosses under the street again and flows into the Mitchell River .
