Mutta is the Rhaeto-Romanic field name for an elevation or a hilltop. The name occurs in small variations throughout the canton of Graubünden .

Occurrence

It occurs once or several times in numerous municipalities and in different regions of the canton. Well-known examples are Muottas Muragl and Motta Naluns ; in Falera is the Parc la Mutta . In the Engadine the name also appears as Mütta .

In the Engadin and the Italian-speaking southern valleys, the related Muotta or Motta can be found at least twice as often, the northernmost occurrences are in Seewis in the Prättigau .

The name of the river Muota in the canton of Schwyz does not go back to this term, but has a different meaning.
