Walter A. Noebel
Walter Arno Noebel (born October 1, 1953 in Cologne ; † July 2, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German architect and university professor .
Life
Noebel studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin from 1971 to 1976 and graduated with the academic degree of graduate engineer. In 1975 he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) .
From 1976 to 1979 Noebel worked as an architect and partner in the Fehling + Gogel office in Berlin , from 1979 to 1982 as an architect at OM Ungers + Partner in Frankfurt am Main and from 1982 to 1986 as an architect at Gregotti Associati in Milan . Between 1986 and 1989 he was an assistant in the Atelier Luigi Snozzi EPFL in Lausanne . In 1989 he helped found the Berlin office. 1992–1994 Noebel was visiting professor at the architecture department of the ETH Zurich . He then ran his own office in Milan from 1994 to 1998. In 1998 he became visiting professor at the architecture faculty of the University of Hanover . In 2000 Noebel became a professor at the Faculty of Construction at the University of Dortmund and holder of the chair for design and industrial construction as well as the architect of the Volkswagen library at the Technical University of Berlin.
He was married and the father of two sons and a daughter. His grave is in the Dahlem forest cemetery .
