Walter A. Oechsler

Walter A. Oechsler (born September 1, 1947 in Kirrlach ; † July 4, 2013 in Mannheim ) was a German economist and retired holder of the chair for general business administration , human resources and ergonomics at the University of Mannheim .

Oechsler completed his studies in business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1970, and from 1971 to 1975 he did his doctorate as a research assistant in the economics and social sciences department of the University of Augsburg. This was followed by his habilitation in 1979 at the Institute for Business Administration at the University of Hohenheim / Stuttgart. After a substitute for the professorship for administrative studies (personnel and organization) at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, he held the chair for business administration, in particular human resource management, at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg from 1980 to 1996 . In 1996 he accepted the position at the University of Mannheim for the chair and seminar for general business administration, human resources and ergonomics as successor to Eduard Gaugler .

He was a member of the scientific advisory board of the educational and social work of the German Association of Civil Servants and from 1997 to 2004 a member of the board of the German Society for Personnel Management . He was also a member of the International Advisory Board of the Human Resource Management Journal and the Board of Trustees of the Baden-Württemberg Leadership Academy.
