Walter Bromme

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walter Julius Ernst Bromme (born April 2, 1885 in Berlin ; † March 30, 1943 there ) was a German composer of hits and operettas.

Life

Nothing is currently known about Bromme's career. In the Tonkünstler-Lexikon by Frank and Altmann, published in 1936, it is noted: Refuses to provide information about himself . Bromme is also completely absent in the subsequent volumes, as is the case in almost all other relevant reference works. Only in the MGG are scattered references to his works and in the library catalogs.

However, he was quite successful as an operetta composer, as the numerous published and also performed operettas show. Various titles from the operettas he set to music were hits in the 1920s and 1930s, and he may have published individual titles as hits. For a time he was director of the Metropoltheater in Berlin, where he only put his own operettas on the program for the 1923/24 season ( most beautiful of women; carnival of love; mascots; thousand sweet legs ).

tomb

Bromme died in Berlin in 1943 and is buried there in a grave of honor for the city of Berlin in the Emmaus cemetery on Hermannstrasse .
