Walter Dahlmann

Walter Dahlmann (born October 17, 1945 in Essen ) is a former German table tennis player .

youth

Dahlmann started playing table tennis when he was eleven. He joined the club SV Moltkeplatz Essen . In its men's team, he contributed to promotion to the league in 1962 , the top German division at the time.

In 1962 and 1963 Dahlmann was German youth champion in singles before Wilfried Lieck and doubles, both times with Wilfried Lieck as a partner. In mixed he reached the final with Christel Lang in 1963. 1964 Dahlmann won the International Youth Championships of England in all individual competitions.

Adults

In 1965 Dahlmann became West German champion in singles, doubles with Jürgen Reuland and mixed with Rosemarie Seidel . From 1967 to 1969 he won the double competition three times in a row with Wilfried Lieck.

On November 29, 1968, he took part in an international European league match against Hungary in Wuppertal. In Germany's 4-3 victory, he was only used in doubles, which he lost at Wilfried Lieck's side against Tibor Klampár / Péter Rózsás .

He remained loyal to the SV Moltkeplatz Essen club. In 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1969 this German vice-team champion. In 1968 Essen won the German Cup championship.

Since Dahlmann put his focus on his profession, there were no further international successes.

Private

Dahlmann is trained as a technical draftsman. He worked as a self-employed technical businessman.
