Walter Elliott (sound engineer)
Walter G. Elliott (* 19th November 1903 in Des Moines , Iowa ; † 1984 in Carrollton , Texas ) was an American engineer who in 1964 the first ever Oscar for best sound effects won.
Life
Elliott began his career as a sound engineer in the Hollywood film industry in 1933 for the film King Kong and the White Woman and was involved in the production of over twenty films by 1963.
At the 1964 Academy Awards, Elliott won the first-ever Oscar for Best Sound Effects in Stanley Kramer's 1963 film A Totally, Totally Crazy World, starring Spencer Tracy , Sid Caesar and Edie Adams . The film was also the last film on which he worked as a sound engineer.
