In the following season emerged as a winner from the Gau northwest Saxony, he played on May 3, 1903 against the Dresdner SC, the winner of the Gau Ostsachsen, for the Central German Championship; the game in Dresden was won 4-0. Due to the success, qualified for the final round of the German championship , he made his debut on May 17th in a 6: 3 semi-final victory over FC 93 from Altona . In the final successful on May 31, 1903 in Altona 7-2 over DFC Prague , he even scored a goal with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 31st minute. In the 1903/04 season the same constellation arose with regard to the final of the Central German Championship, but the game originally planned for June 5, 1904 in Leipzig again against the Dresdner SC was not played and was postponed to June 19, 1904. This game was also not played, so it was decided in a meeting on July 23, 1904 not to play the final because of a tight schedule. As the defending champion, VfB Leipzig had already been registered for participation in the final round of the German championship. Friedrich played the quarter-finals, won 1-0 against Magdeburg FC Viktoria 1896 on April 24, 1904, and the semi-finals won 3-2 on May 15, 1904 after extra time against Duisburg SpV .

However, the final against BTuFC Britannia 1892 , scheduled for May 29, 1904 in Kassel , did not take place. The Karlsruher FV had lodged a protest against the rating of this championship at the DFB . The DFB had not complied with the schedule of the final round matches in a neutral location; as a result, the final was canceled in the morning and the championship final was annulled.
