Walter Gerber (District Administrator)

Walter Gerber (born June 21, 1907 in Nikolai ) was a German lawyer and district administrator.

Gerber was the son of the Chief Postal Secretary Heinrich Gerber. He was Catholic and married. From Easter 1913 to Easter 1917 he attended the Nikolai elementary school and then the Progymnasium there until July 1921. From August 1921 to June 1922 he was a student at the grammar school in Ohlau , then at the St.Matthias grammar school in Wroclaw, where he passed the Abitur at Easter 1926. He then studied law for 7 semesters at the University of Wroclaw . On May 1, 1931 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD.

From 1924 to late 1926 / early 1927 he worked for the German Social Party . On June 1, 1930 he became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 291710).

On February 1, 1935, he became a government assessor and from December 16, 1935, he worked for the Reich and Prussian Ministry of the Interior, where he was promoted to government councilor. On May 5, 1938, he was appointed to act as a representative for the administration of the district office of Witzenhausen , on February 10, 1939 he was appointed provisional, and on March 6, 1940, he was appointed as district administrator. He stayed in office until the end of World War II .
