Walter Ibáñez , full name Walter Fernando Ibáñez Costa , (born December 10, 1984 in Rivera ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.83 meter tall defensive player Ibáñez was part of the Centro Atlético Fénix team at the beginning of his career from 2005 to mid-2008 . During this period he played in at least 34 games (no goal) in the Primera División . He was then active for River Plate Montevideo until January 2009 and played nine top division games (no goal) and one encounter (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2008 . In the Clausura 2009 he met for Defensor Sporting once in eight first division appearances in the opposing goal and twice (no goal) in the competition for the Copa Libertadores 2009 was on the pitch. At the beginning of January 2010 Ibáñez was loaned to the Club Atlético Cerro . With the Montevideans, he completed twelve games in the top Uruguayan league and six games in the Copa Libertadores 2010 . A competitive goal he did not succeed. In July 2010 he returned to Defensor Sporting and from then on played in 24 first division games (one goal) and six clashes of the 2010 Copa Sudamericana . At the beginning of January 2012, Ibáñez started working at Alianza Lima until the end of 2014 . For the Peruvians, he scored 20 goals in 107 appearances in the Primera División . He contributed to winning the 2014 Copa Inca tournament with four goals scored and 15 participations. At international level, he has made five appearances (one goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2012 and two (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . In 2015 Ibáñez played for CD Universidad Católica . The Chileans used him in 15 top division games (one goal). After returning to Alianza Lima in early January 2016, he played 40 games (four goals) in the top Peruvian league. Since mid-February 2017, Club Atlético Cerro has been his employer again. After three first division appearances (no goal), he moved to Deportivo La Guaira in early July 2017 . In the ranks of the Venezuelans, he has so far (as of July 22, 2017) played once (no goal) in the league.
