Walter Krebaum (born April 27, 1921 in Rußdorf ; † February 20, 2010 ) was an SED functionary. From 1950 to 1952 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the SED and a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Krebaum was born in 1921 as the child of a working-class family in Russdorf, Saxony. After attending primary school, he began an apprenticeship in the local textile industry. He was called up for military service, which he finished in 1945 as a sergeant in the administration of the Parachute Panzer Division 1 Hermann Göring . Krebaum was apparently able to leave the troops in good time before the end of the war, because as members of the Air Force, the soldiers in his division were treated like members of the Waffen SS.

Krebaum became a member of the KPD in 1945 , and accordingly transferred to the SED in 1946. In 1946 he began to work in the SED state executive committee in Saxony as a field manager, later he worked in the agriculture department of the SED state management. During this time Krebaum also completed a course at the Saxon state party school in Ottendorf. Krebaum was employed in January 1949 as a consultant in the Agriculture Department of the Central Secretariat (later the Central Committee) of the SED in Berlin and was promoted to chief consultant in May 1949. He initially worked as the deputy head of the Agriculture Department and from April 1951 headed this department in succession to Ernst Hansch . Krebaum's position as a young agricultural expert was additionally strengthened by the SED. On the III. At the SED party congress in July 1950, he was elected as a candidate for the SED Central Committee. In October 1950 his party nominated him as a candidate for the People's Chamber, in which he sat as a member of parliament until 1952 after the election.

After an investigation by the Central Party Control Commission , during which it became known that his function in the Wehrmacht had not been disclosed, the Politburo dealt with Walter Krebaum's party punishment on July 8, 1952 - one day before the opening of the Second Party Conference of the SED - and decided to exclude him the SED. At the same time his function as candidate for the Central Committee expired. Walter Ulbricht also mentioned this in his presentation at the Second Party Conference, where he spoke of the fact that the former fascist sergeant major Krebaum had been expelled from the party for falsifying questionnaires and immoral lifestyle .

In later years Walter Krebaum was still the mayor of Kuhschnappel .
