Walter Kupper

Walter Kupper (born November 25, 1874 in Attikon , † December 13, 1953 in Zurich ) was a Swiss botanist who worked in Germany . His specialties were the cacti and ferns and mosses . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Kupper ".

Life

Kupper received his doctorate in 1906 at the University of Munich with a thesis on the formation of buds on fern leaves . From 1908 to 1940 he worked at the Botanical Garden in Munich , 1908 as curator , 1916 as conservator, 1920 as chief conservator. In 1937 he was promoted to head of department, and in 1928 he received the title of professor. From 1931 to 1932 he toured Costa Rica to collect ferns and mosses. He died in Switzerland in 1953.
