Camillo Karl Schneider
Camillo Karl Schneider (born April 7, 1876 in Gröppendorf ; † January 5, 1951 in Berlin ) was a German botanist with a focus on dendrology , garden architect and writer . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ CKSchneid. "; earlier the abbreviation “ Schneid. " in use. His brother is the zoologist and philosopher of the same name, Karl Camillo Schneider .
Live and act
From 1907 to 1908 he made a trip to Bulgaria , Serbia and the Caucasus ; In 1913 he toured western China . From 1915 to 1918 he worked at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston in the US state of Massachusetts . Schneider wrote a variety of botanical and horticultural writings.
One of his main works is the Illustrated Handbook of Hardwood Science (1904–1912). He was also co-editor of the magazine Gartenschönheit (1920–1942). Together with Ernst Graf Silva Tarouca , he wrote the manuals for free-range perennials (1910), free-range deciduous trees (1912) and free-range softwoods (1913).
Camillo Karl Schneider worked with other landscape architects and Adolf Loos on a garden concept for Müllerova vila in Prague.
Honors
In honor of Camillo Karl Schneider, the German Dendrological Society annually awards a prize for young talent worth 2500 euros for outstanding scientific work on dendrology . Here, work by students and doctoral candidates that are related to woody topics should be awarded.
